I have two driving forces in life: Helping people solve problems with their home, and long distance cycling.
While I spend most of my time working on homes these days, I don’t neglect my bike. I make sure to get out for at least 100km bike ride every month. Thus the company name, “Spoke & Hammer”.
I’ve worked in construction trades since 1977…
…when I formed my own remodeling business in Eugene, Oregon. I moved to Seattle in 1982 and took a little detour from construction in 1982 when I got into Information Technology. I eventually moved into IT full time two years later. In 1997, I started to renovating and managing a number of properties. Nearly every weekend for the next six years I renovated three homes and one four plex, all while working full time in IT and raising a family. I started Spoke & Hammer after retiring from IT in 2025.
